Description:
 This 1-day workshop is open to actors, writers, directors, and producers. Directors - getting from script to editing room with your vision intact.  Actors - giving a relaxed and focused performance in the face of few takes and many distractions. Producers (what do they really do?), Writers (holding on and letting go), anyone in Film Production can join the conversation. Filmmakers will then watch and discuss some of the masters of independent film; Cassavetes, Burnett, Lee, Lupino, De Sica, Von Trier, Altman, Godard, Tarkovsky et al.  What does it mean to be truly "independent?"  Why was it important to these artists?  How did they sharpen their skills while often battling to stay out of the mainstream?
Cost: $125 for non Studio 4 students

CAMPBELL SCOTT co-directed the movies BIG NIGHT and HAMLET; directed FINAL and OFF THE MAP; and wrote and directed COMPANY RETREAT. He appeared on Broadway in Noises Off, Long Day’s Journey Into Night and Hay Fever.  Off Broadway: The Atheist, Pericles, Measure For Measure.  He’s acted and directed theater regionally in Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Seattle and Williamstown.  On television, Campbell has appeared on Royal Pains, Damages, Six Degrees and the upcoming season of Sex Drugs and Rock’n’Roll.  On film he’s appeared in: SPIDERMAN, LONGTIME COMPANION, THE SHELTERING SKY, MRS.
